What is CBD Oil? How is it made?

CBD (Cannabidiol) oil is extracted from cannabis plants, typically industrial hemp from the Sativa strain. The method of extraction plays a big role in the quality and consistency of the final product. The three most common extraction methods are:

• CO2 Extraction – no heat, most expensive, consistent, highest yielding, minimal waste, process removes bacteria, mold and impurities

• Decarboxylation or “heating” the hemp to a specific temperature for a specific time to activate the chemical components 

• Liquid Solvent  Extraction – flower is soaked in solvents then heated to concentrate to an oil. The cheapest, lowest quality process
